NEW ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN Remake

Celestial Pictures has appointed Ross Pollack new CEO. Starting in late August, he will succeed William Pfeiffer who left Celestial in March 2008. Since 2004, Pollack was Senior Vice President distribution Asia at Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) in Hong Kong.

Celestial Pictures has just moved from Clearwater Bay to Kowloon Bay, and plans several remakes of movies from the Shaw Brothers Library, among them Chang Cheh’s 1967 classic THE ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN.

The remake will be developed in coproduction with Korean company Sidus FHN, part of Korean KT Group, and is scheduled for release in 2010. Kim Sung Su who has directed and scripted the prize-winning epic MUSA (2001) will direct the $10 million project.
