HOUSE OF 72 TENANTS Reloaded

Production start ceremony for the sequel/ remake of the classic Shaw movie HOUSE OF 72 TENANTS was held on October 22, 2009. Chu Yuan’s comedy was released in 1973 and counts among the most successful Shaw movies ever.

72 GA JO HAT (72 HOUSE RENTERS) is a coproduction between Shaw Brothers (HK) Ltd. and TVB. Following Herman Yau’s TURNING POINT which was successfully released in August, this will be the second movie to bear the legendary, reinvigorated Shaw logo.

Patrick Kong aka Yip Lim Sum or Riley Yip (according to different sources) and Eric Tsang will direct the movie, Tsang is also executive producer. Jacky Cheung and Anita Yuen play lead roles while Joyce Chang Xin Yi, the daughter of popular actress Lydia Shum who died in 2008, takes over the role of her mother. The cast also includes Charmaine Sheh See Man, Bosco Wong Chung Chak, Michael Tse, Raymond Lam, and many others. The film will be released on Lunar New Year 2010.
